Now, Saturday, July 20 and heading to the Outer Banks of NC!

Visiting with Susan was so reaffirming that friends make such a difference in ones' life.  Although I'd only seen her a few times in the last 40+ years, the love was apparent and fierce.  The Jeanne connection defined.

It finally stopped raining and became immeshed in a gaggle of Harley riders.  I'd say perhaps, 25 of them.  All in their leathers stating "KILLERS" and roaring thunder doing 80 mph.  Needless to say I was happy when they exited.

Q was in his normal state of zen:

Driving the Prius is NICE as 50 mpg kept us moving.  Happened by HERE, but didn't need to stop.  It was tempting but the Outer Banks was calling louder. :)
Once we got to Nags Head we headed immediately for the beach and did a quick walk/run.  The rain had lifted and the sky was thick but the air was tepid and water warm.  AHHHHH

David Wood, an old NCSAer and former cast mate from The Lost Colony came into Manteo, NC and we met up for dinner.  I met his beautiful wife, Ashely and we talked of old times, ate and had some wine.
David invited me to see the show, The Lost Colony, as he took over as director and restored it to it's original integrity.  What memories that held!  We met doing the show 43 years ago and things were oddly familiar.  Particularly the scent... the brine of the sound, the pine, the tar from the railroad ties...

Q enjoyed his first adventure to the the-a-tah. However, when the battles started he was shaking like a leaf for 20 minutes.  What a sissy dog.
During intermission we went backstage and saw the new wardrobe area.  There'd be a big fire and over 2 million worth of costumes was lost.  Billy Long had to come in and rework everything with new color stories.  What a job.  We wandered around and met cast members, David introducing me.  So kind and courteous.

Afterwards we all ventured to Della Basnight's home and sat on the front porch, drinking wine and telling stories.  We caught up on most everything and retold memories.  Some parts had changed, been enhanced or left out, which made it all the more interesting.

Ashely was so sweet wanting to know about my trip, what I've discovered, where my newly known relatives were buried, etc.  I wanted to know about her, and she shared her family stories... how David reminds her of a family member, the surprise arrival of Thomas (their precious 2 year old).  It was just lovely.  However, by the time we got back to Nags Head it was 2am.  Jeezzz...  :/

Tomorrow we head out to Cape May.
